A Look Back on My Personal Experience
Motivation and Decision
I struggled with severe obesity since the age of 5. It impacted my health, well-being, and self-esteem. After many years of weight management programs, yo-yo dieting, fasting, and intense exercising I felt helpless because none of these "solutions" worked for me. Finally, I decided to do the research that led me to the decision that bariatric surgery offered a path to regain control.
Emotional Rollercoaster
Making the decision to undergo bariatric surgery was an emotional rollercoaster. There were moments of fear, excitement, and anticipation. My support system was vital but also very limited, because I felt that this type of procedure was not common within my community.
Newfound Confidence
At 6 years post-op, I have achieved weight-loss of over 250 lbs., as a result of my bariatricvertical sleeve gastrectomy. I'm healthier, more active, and happier than ever before. This journey has been transformative, teaching me strength and resilience. It has also provided me with the knowledge and passion to encourage and support others who would like to start their own journey.
